Equity Training Opportunity for Organic Service Providers

We recognize that the organic community needs basic training on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion for certifiers, inspectors, technical assistance providers, farmers, and staff at organic educational organizations. Organic Farmers Association (OFA), the National Organic Coalition (NOC), IFOAM North America, the Accredited Certifiers Association (ACA), and the International Organic Inspectors Association (IOIA) have been collaborating on a project, supported in part through funding from the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, National Organic Program, to support building a more diverse, inclusive organic movement.

We have come together to offer free trainings for members of the organic movement so that collectively we can improve access and diversity within the organic movement! Join us on this journey!

Our next two-part training is geared towards organic farm organizations that provide education or technical assistance to organic farmers and aspiring organic farmers. We encourage organizations to register up to 2 staff to attend! Spots are limited!

Date: April 20, 12 pm - 3.30 pm ET & April 22, 12 pm - 3.30 pm ET. Attendance on both days is requested.

Location: Zoom

Facilitators: Cambium Collective

Registration: https://forms.gle/kxgR3zhuQk3Witr17.

The goals of this training are for participants to:

  • Deepen their understanding of your own identities and stories, and how those have been impacted by proximity to power, privilege, and marginalization.

  • Develop their awareness of how workplace culture perpetuates white dominant culture so you can begin to identify actions that you can take to create sustainable change within yourself and at your workplace. Some action items will be shared.

  • Grapple with the conflicting needs to be both in our full humanity and stay professional as people who are a part of a regulatory system.

  • Make personal commitments to take steps towards being more anti-racist in your life and work.

A pre-requisite for the training is having watched the Virtual Presentation on the History of Racism in US Agriculture & Organic. A recording is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd3wBCcoTI4

Training will build upon the information delivered in this presentation.

Please note: the training will be capped to 50 participants. If more than 50 people register, priority will be given, by order of registration, to no more than two participants per organization.

Please register by Thursday, March 31st, 2022. Confirmations will be sent to participants Friday, April 1st, 2022.
