Take Action - Ask your Representative to join the House Organic Caucus

Is your representative a member of the House Organic Caucus?

This bipartisan association of congressional members has come together to promote organic policies and educate Congress Members and their staff on organic farming methods, what the term "organic" really means, organic programs at the USDA, and issues facing organic.

Check the list below to confirm if your Representative is a member. You can use your zip code to find your Representative and his or her contact information here.

If your Representative is not yet a member of the House Organic Caucus, call the Capital Switchboard and ask to be connected to your Representative’s office:

Ask to speak with the staffer who works on agriculture or leave a message with whoever answers the phone. Choose from the talking points below that you think will resonate with your Representative:

  • I’m calling as a constituent and an organic farmer/consumer. I’m calling to request that Representative X join the House Organic Caucus.

  • Organic consumers/farmers in your district care about organic food and farming. By joining the House Organic Caucus, you can help support policies to advance organic agriculture.

  • Organic is the fastest growing sector of the U.S. food industry and consumer demand for organic products has grown exponentially. In 2018, organic sales hit a record breaking $52.5 billion, representing almost 6% of all food sold in the U.S.

  • Organic agriculture is a bright spot in our economy and provides jobs in rural communities. These are jobs that can and should be created here at home, rather than relying on imported organic products.

  • Organic is good for people and the planet because it reduces exposure to toxic pesticides and conserves water and soil resources. Organic farming also improves farmers’ incomes and boosts rural economies.

  • I’d like to encourage [Representative X] to show support for organic by joining the House Organic Caucus.
