Structural Reforms to Advance Organic at USDA
NOC has articulated six top priorities for immediate action by USDA. We communicated these six top priorities to the Biden-Harris Transition team in November of 2020 and since then, we have urged Secretary Vilsack and other USDA leaders to prioritize these six issues to put organic back on solid footing.
Beyond these six priorities, the National Organic Coalition is urging significant reforms to the National Organic Program (NOP) and USDA programs to shift to a culture of vocal and meaningful support for organic agriculture.
NOC is putting forward a platform of reforms to (1) Elevate the role of the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), and (2) Activate support for Organic at USDA. We believe these reforms can be accomplished administratively, without new legislation, by USDA leaders with support from the organic community.

NOTE: These reforms will be discussed during NOC’s Pre NOSB Meeting on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021. Please register here by Monday, October 4th at 12 pm ET to participate in the conversation.
